Pre-install Requirements

QUESTIONS TO ANSWER BEFORE THE INSTALLATION

Is it going to be installed on a wall / a bulkhead / or a recessed wall ?

If it’s on a wall :

What is the dimensions if it’s on a bulkhead ?

If it’s a recessed wall :

What is the positioning of the hut in comparison to the placement of the screens (the objective is to know if the hut is going to create an obstruction, and also we base the height of our screen on the height of the hut, we try to align the bottom of our screens to the bottom of the hut).

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DIGITAL MENUBOARDS

To all Contractors
Please read the following information regarding the requirements for the digital menuboards:

Requirements:

1. A Menuboard requires a minimum of 4 screens (and in some cases an additional “romance” screen) installed flush next to each either in portrait or landscape mode. See pictures of existing installations on the Installation Pictures tab.

2. The recommended sizes for the screens are 46 inch. The exact dimensions of screens are outlined below. In cases where there is not enough room to accommodate 46 inch screens, 40 inch screens are the recommended alternative.

3. Each of the four screens is connected to a Media PC that is connected to an internet jack. When there is a 5th screen, a second Media PC is required.

4. The screens can be mounted on a wall, bulkhead, recessed wall, or ceiling mounted on poles. However, the maximum distance between the screen and the order counter customer should not exceed 6 feet.

5. Before poles are installed, please validate with us the exact pole position/placement.

6. The wall, ceiling or bulk head must reinforced to support up to 400 pounds if 4 screens and up to 500 pounds if 5 screens.

7. If the wall is recessed, make sure that there is breathing space in the walls all around the Screens (behind, above, below) and an opening to let the heat of the screens flow out of the walls. We need to ensure that the heat of the screens does not get trapped in the recessed area, it must flow out. Make sure you have a frame around screens to close the gap between recessed wall opening and screens and that the fame does not inhibit the screens ventilation.

8. There should be no cooking devices or sources of heat (rice cooker/soup warmer) installed below the screens.

9. The hood must not obstruct the screens. The screens need to be completely visible from the perspective of a customer lining up to determine what to order.

10. Make sure the beverage fridge does not obstruct the screens (you must provide height and location of fridge on the plans you provide us).

11. Make sure you have no source of light or fixture pointing on screens or on top of screens which will cause glare or the screens to not be readable.

12. We require one Electrical Outlet per screen. Electrical outlets for screens should be in ceiling in the case of pole mounted installations and on the wall behind the Screens for wall mounted installations. The Screen’s electrical outlets must have power surge protections and be on a separate circuit breaker from other electrical outlets.

13. The Internet Modem should NOT be installed under the cash or counter. Make sure that there is a shelf installed to hold it in the kitchen. This shelf should not be installed on top of any cooking machine or source of heat. This shelf’s primary use is to hold the MediaPC(s) which will be attached to the Screens, as well as the Internet Modem and Router(s). We will need surge protected electrical outlets for these devices, again on a dedicated circuit breaker NOT shared with any other equipment. Please ensure that the equipment has proper ventilation, free of heat, water, boxes and cluttered paper.

14. The Screens and MediaPC(s) must stay on at all times. They should NOT be shut off.

15. In order to provide Video cables of sufficient length, you need to provide us with the distance between the location of the Media PC(s)/shelf and the screens. (take into account each individual tv distance from tv to its respective MediaPC)

16. You must inform us in advance as to who the Internet Service Provider (ISP) is, as well as all connection information (PPoE usernames/passwords and/or Modem or ISP supplied Router usernames/passwords.)

17. The Internet download speed should be at least 5Mbps.

18. The Internet Service Provider should install their modem on the shelf (See Item 13). If the ISP installs the modem elsewhere, there will be an additional charge for cabling from the modem to the shelf.
